The Scottish Youths International Squad was selected at loch Venachar last weekend. After two tough days enduring strong winds on the Sunday 16 young men were selected and they will now be practising hard to retain the International Championship that they won on the Lake last month. Next year’s final is in Ireland on Lough Conn famous for its wild brown trout. Loch Venachar, also just brown trout, has no doubt produced a very strong squad. The overall winner of the Scottish championships was Scott Miller (16) from Perth, second was Max McKinstrie (13) Kippen, third Chris McCaig (15). The rest of the Squad, subject to age verification is in no particular order: Evan Reid, Craig Ferguson, Fraser Thomson, Steven McVeen, Ross Callaghan, Callum McIver, Kristofer Bates, Martin MacCafferty, James Fairlie, Rory Crosbie, Alan Fulton, Darren Hennan and Grant Osler.

The best flies last week were the Clan Chief and the Kate McLaren and the best fishing areas proved to be Lendrick Point, Roadshore, Carsaig, Beetle Bay, Portnellan, Grass Banks and Scouts Bay.
